Micro fisheye IX – Sharper optics

#402 ERROR_LACK_OF_MOTIVATION

All the optics described in previous posts are taken from other applications and adapted for use a wide angle macro. The resulting systems are less than optimal, with the images suffering from unwanted aberrations; it is the objective that complains for being abused outside its design range. The adapter rings, assemblies and mounting setups are often not practical for field use or do not allow fine collimation of the components.

It would be ideal to have an optical system entirely designed for the purpose. I have designed and evaluated several possible configurations and mounting systems; a dedicated super-macro wide angle objective is not too complicated and may easily outperform setups like the Laowa 24mm probe, the M12-Fisheye-on-macro or industrial borescopes; it can be manufactured at competitive cost.

I don’t have the detailed optical prescription and bill of materials ready! But from the schemes provided, a custom optics manufacturer should be able to optimize the optics in one day and deliver the prototypes in one week (if they’re not booked with other jobs; we’ll have to wait then).

The material I’ve prepared is currently in state of Draft and I decided not to publish it due to other more urgent jobs and complete lack of interest on the solution by other fellow humans.

Contact me if you wish to use, have, crowdfund, manufacture or sell this product. You may continue reading the other pages I’ve already shared freely and try to figure out yourself how to copy Al Nagler’s designs.
